Where It All Began: The Birth of Definition of Hard Techno

To understand why this launch means so much, we have to go back to 2013 — when O.B.I. (Tobias Lüke) released his album Definition of Hard Techno on his then-label Distorted Germany.

The album wasn’t just a collection of tracks — it was a manifesto. O.B.I. used it to express his own vision of what Hard Techno truly is: driving energy, precision, and emotion fused into a sound that moves both body and mind.

Shortly after, a massive remix series was born. More than 50 artists from across the Hard Techno and Schranz scene contributed remixes, with each track from the album reinterpreted by up to three or four different producers. This collaborative wave became the foundation of a movement — and the phrase Definition of Hard Techno turned from an album title into an idea, a community, and ultimately a brand.

From Movement to Label

Fueled by the response to the album and its remixes, O.B.I. decided to take things further and founded a new label — Definition of Hard Techno. Its mission was clear: to give Hard Techno a stronger identity and a global voice, built around O.B.I.’s own definition of the genre.

The label quickly became synonymous with the harder European sound, bringing together both rising talents and established legends from the scene. It wasn’t just about releasing tracks — it was about representing a culture.
